Profile
The Academy of Fine Arts Nuremberg was founded in 1662 and is thus the oldest university of the arts in the German-speaking world; it is a state university of the arts with approx. 340 students. "Fine arts" as well as "art for secondary schools" are taught in artistic classes, which focus on the media liberal arts, painting, sculpting, fine arts, networked materiality, graphic design, jewelry and artefacts. The postgraduate Master’s degree programme "Live Art Forms" teaches performative and aesthetic practices in various disciplines and media – in fine arts as well as performing arts and others. Located on the outskirts of town, the students are taught in a listed ensemble of transparent pavilions, constructed by Sep Ruf. Artistic techniques are taught in the excellently equipped workshops.
The AdBK Nuremberg sees itself as a space enabling full artistic development. With a committed team of renowned lecturers, the university creates an open and artistic atmosphere, which enables the students to develop their individual forms of expression. In the annual and graduates exhibitions as well as in the Akademie Galerie Nürnberg the students of the AdBK Nuremberg go public.
The AdBK Nuremberg has an international network, maintaining world-wide partnerships.
