Profile

The University of Augsburg that was founded in 1970 is located near to the historical city centre of Augsburg approx. 15 minutes from the main train station and the central Königsplatz.  It ranks among the young universities in Bavaria and boasts a modern, green campus. Everything that is important for studying and student life lies in the immediate vicinity: the faculties, the lecture hall complex, the libraries, the service and administrative facilities, the sports centre, the canteen and cafeterias and several halls of residence.

The university’s profile is determined by three major research and teaching areas:Global Business and Law, Cultural and Educational Studies, and Innovative Technologies. Spread over seven faculties, around 80 courses of study are offered in the Humanities and Social Sciences, Natural and Technical Sciences, Law and Economics, and Theology.

Thanks to the good study conditions and some study programmes that are unique in Germany, the university attracts students from all over the world. Internationalisation is an important concern of the university. The proportion of foreign students in Augsburg is currently around ten per cent. International students are supported by employees from the International Office and can attend a four-week course to prepare them for their studies. German students benefit from partnerships and cooperation agreements with some 200 European universities and approx. 80 others outside Europe.
